In this webinar\, we will explore some of the qualities of a healthy neighbourhoods\, and some of the ways these qualities can be fostered or created. \nThese qualities include: \n\nA walkable\, complete neighbourhood where you can access your daily destinations without a motor vehicle;\nSmaller\, energy efficient homes and local green energy;\nMinimizing waste\, rethinking waste as a resource\,:\nGrowing food and caring for soil;\nTree planting and naturalization;\nAbsorbing rain where it falls and being good stewards for our water;\nPlaces to play\, move\, and gather;\nPeople-friendly\, supportive neighbours;\nCreating positive change together.\n\nSign me up! \n \nNaomi Grant is a community organizer and activist in Greater Sudbury who facilitates collaborative\, grassroots efforts for a more sustainable and equitable community. DESCRIPTION:Join Facilitators Judy Shepalo and Ellen Ryan for the Resilient Aging and Healthy Housing Options 4 week course\nA workshop with four sessions designed to help maturing adults have the conversations necessary to successfully become conscious of the issues common to growing older\, to get out of denial\, and to become proactive in their own aging process. Participants will learn about the many advantages of living in a supportive community such as cohousing and can decide if aging in community is right for them. Key concepts discussed will include interdependence\, compassionate communication\, reciprocal support\, social cohesion\, the environmental and economic impact of cohousing\, the risk of taking charge or doing nothing at all and recognition that we do not outgrow our need for others. \n\nWednesday February 10 from 10:30am -12 noon\nWednesday February 17 from 10:30am -12 noon\nWednesday February 24 from 10:30am -12 noon\nWednesday March 3 from 10:30am -12 noon\n\nThis is a repeat of the course offered in the Fall\, 2020 – now with a focus on small group discussions.
